Guys, we all will be leaving next Friday for our our first ashram tour.. here are thee tour details:
9th sep - friday leaving chennai by 7.30 pm bus ( guys from siruseri need to start by 5.30 sharp and take tambaram cab. i would join you along with people from saidapet. lets meet at tambaram station at 7pm)
10 Sep - sat - reach sriviliputhur by 6 am and after break fast and refresh we start and reach the foothills by 8.30 am.start the trek before 9am --> reach the hill by 1pm(lunch at top)--> continue our trek to Sidhar meditation rock at 2.30 and come back to temple complex by 6.30- 7pm
11 Sep - Sun - start down trek at 7 am and reach srivilliputhr by 10.30 --> reach Madurai an have lunch (based on time we may visit Meenakshi temple)--> start to Chennai at 1 pm--> reach Chennai by 8.30 pm
few tips for the tour:
Do not take heavy luggage. It will be very tough to climb.your kit should contain :
1.A pair of clothes ( preferabaly Tshirt and shorts/ three-fourths - dont wear full pant, tight jeans as its tough to climb the rocks)
2.Toilet kit containing soap, tooth brush, tooth paste and others.
3.wear sports shoes if not chappals with good grip
4.a blanket / air pillow
5.min 2 bottles of water bottle ( 1 lit bottle)
6.a torch light ( any three of us can bring this)
7.candles (the other three bring this) & match box
8. pen knife & Scissors
9.Snacks for the hills: chips, biscuits, chocolates etc.,
10.Of course camera
11.A Mug ( for bathing)
The forest section starts from Thaniparai.(foot hills @ 7 kms from srivilliputhur)
Annadhana is going on from morning to evening near both the temples and we have to stay in the shelter provided there before night falls.
Do not walk in the dark without proper torch light.
If you happen to see any animal, stay quiet and wait for it to move away and then move
Sathuragiri hill does not have any electricity, hotels, lodges etc. There is an ashram called Sri Kalimuthu Swamigal Madam or Kanji Madam, which provides free food and also provides place for pilgrims to stay.
Guys... Its going to be a trek cum holy tour... lets begin with this and we will be covering more exciting places in the upcoming tours.... Lets enjoy
